About me, Cynthia.
Four years ago, I left Canada and moved to the U.K. to accept a job offer as a Research Manager in a local English hospice. I loved my job and a key part of that was empowering busy health professionals and their managers to engage in research.
I quickly realised I had a skill for explaining complex ideas with relatable analogies. A key moment for me was helping a colleague avoid dropping out of a course and finish with top marks while handling the rigours of a clinical career.
I decided to quit my job, pursue my PhD and gain insight into how to better support individuals like me to succeed in academia.

I have won full funding for both my master's and PhD. I won the prestigious Canada Graduate Scholarship (master's) twice. I declined it the first time. It took a lot of guts (and confidence to do so), but I won it again the following year. I'm also a National Institute of Health Research Individual Development Award recipient.
